Metal

Materials such as titanium, Inconel®, tool steel and brass are highly valuable, yet their resilient composition makes them tough to cut. Thankfully, there is an effective solution: abrasive waterjet cutting.

Waterjet Cutting - Metal

The waterjet cutting process employs a high-speed, high-pressure jet of water to cut through material in high or low volumes and from 1/16” to 8” in thickness. Tolerances of 0.001” (0.025mm) are possible, while the average part tolerances are around 0.005” (0.13mm).

As well as cutting with supreme accuracy and leaving clean edges every time, waterjet cutting also requires no tool sharpening. It causes no stress impact, heat distortion or heat- affected zones either, so there is rarely any need for secondary cutting. The whole process from setup to completion can be achieved in minutes, and you can even stack the materials to save time.

What’s more, waterjet cutting will save you money. As the jet’s kerf is very fine, you can maximise material use by nesting parts closely together. As well as saving costs, waterjet cutting is environmentally friendly, producing no hazardous waste and reducing wasted metal.
